Taxman

Born in Sunderland in 1983, Taxman is a UK drum and bass DJ and producer. At 16, Taxman moved to Newcastle and learnt music production in his brother’s and friends’ studios. A collaboration began after G Dub invited Taxman to Leicester for a project, where they made Warp Speed. Taxman later signed to True Playaz, with “Too Bad” serving as his first solo single. Taxman is associated with Playaz Recordings.

Tindill grew up in Sunderland and said he discovered jungle around 1994, listening to Radio 1’s One in the Jungle and mixing records with his brother. He described his early career as rooted in jump-up, but later chose to make the drum and bass he wanted instead of trying to write jump-up. Taxman said DJ Hype encouraged him to be original and supported his musical direction.

Taxman has also released an EP on Playaz. His 2026 four-track EP, Time’s Up, includes “E.Y.G,” “Time’s Up” and “Xtro”.

Taxman’s releases for Real Playaz include the “Evasion” remix and the tracks “Konkrete Shoes” and “My House”. In 2003, Taxman released “The Rebate” on Propaganda Recordings. Taxman played at Hootananny Brixton in November 2025. In 2026, Taxman played at Jumunjy Bar in June and at Culture Box in August.
