For "16 Bar Cycles" I was super excited to get one of my favourite artists, Christoph El' Truento on the LP. His music is totally inspiring and makes you think about music in an entirely new way. "One Day Your Heroes Will Fall Over" (http://christoph-el-truento.bandcamp.com/…/a-series-of-oops…) and "Sunflower"(http://christoph-el-truento.bandcamp.com/album/sunflower-ep) are great places to start if you're unfamiliar with his stuff.
After asking Christoph about doing a collab, I was sent a dropbox link with a dozen or so loops. I honestly could of made a track with any of them, but I naturally gravitated to the one used on "16 Bar Cycles".
After opening up Logic and dropping the parts in, I literally had most of the track together in only a couple of hours. As they say, the best tracks write themselves and that was 100% the case on this one.
I had always planned to include non-dnb, or tracks slightly off-centre on my LP and this one exactly what I was trying to create. Its not often that I have a vision for a track and I can actually work it to realisation.
I'm really proud of this track and think it really opens the LP on the perfect note.
