Insomniac Records began in May 2014 as a venture between Insomniac and Interscope Geffen A&M. Dance producer Arty became its first signing, and his album Glorious was selected as the label’s first release. The imprint later ended its Interscope partnership and relaunched independently in 2016. That June, it put out its debut compilation, Insomniac Records Presents: EDC Las Vegas 2016.
The label’s musical range includes drum and bass, trance and pop dance. Holly and NXSTY’s “TILL I DIE” came out in 2019, followed by Dimension and Eli Brown “Frequency” in 2026. Its releases have also featured Leo Wood, Turno and DNMO. Insomniac Records operates alongside imprints such as Bassrush Records, Dreamstate Records and IN / ROTATION, within Insomniac Music Group.
Its Discovery Project supports emerging artists, and Insomniac Records has curated stages at major music festivals. Joe Wiseman and Greg Mateo were the label’s co-general managers in 2018; Mateo had joined as a distributor in 2016. The team developed a release schedule and a pipeline for emerging local talent after the split from Interscope.
