Metafiziq Recordings was established in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2008 by Valery Sholevski (Ogonek) and Daniel Iliev (Mad Twist). Its releases centre on heavier drum and bass, including dark, crossbreed, technoid, techstep and neurofunk styles. The Metalight series takes a different direction, featuring deeper, more melodic material across IDM, chillout, trip-hop and deep drum and bass. The label has released music by local and international artists, including Gorebug, whose work includes releases with Maza.
The label’s first numbered release was MTFZ001, a double-vinyl EP called Missing Particle EP, issued on March 30, 2009, with tracks by DB and Kigami. In 2013, Metafiziq Recordings issued Gorebug and Maza’s single Bioform (MTFZ22), followed by Gorebug’s High Voltage - MTFZ25. The label has also held events at Mixtape 5 in Sofia, including one in 2026.
