Based in London, Narratives Music is a drum and bass imprint established in 2011 by production duo Blocks & Escher, who control its releases as an independent outlet for their work. The label opened its release run in January 2012 with the duo’s Sagan / Broken, later reissued with remixes from Paradox and Om Unit and a Blocks & Escher version titled “Sagan VIP.” Its early records ranged across styles and were shaped as complete listening pieces, not solely as tools for DJs. Its founders aimed to put the music first and to work without genre constraints.
ASC supplied a remix of “Heartshaped” for the label’s second release, Shiver / Heartshaped, in 2012. One of its 2012 releases won Everyday Junglist’s Single of the Year award. The label issued Overlook’s Three Shards / Embers in 2013 and Om Unit’s Broken (Om Unit Remix) in 2016. Its releases also include work by Rhyming In Fives, SB81 and Concealed Identity, as well as music by Blocks & Escher. Narratives Music has issued records in vinyl and digital formats.
