Nu Electro Recordings launched in 2002 as a Beta Recordings sub-label, with John B’s American Girls EP as its first release. Its music policy ranged from drum and bass to four-on-the-floor styles, with electro, retro, synth and punk sounds also in scope. Xilent’s “Timescape / More Than One” was credited to the label on a UK release in 2003. In 2004, Nu Electro put out Castor’s Emily / Le Metro and Genetic Sequence’s Photographic / Time. John B returned with “On a Mission / Watch the Smoke Rise” in 2005, followed by his Electrostep album in 2006. By 2008, the planned range also included electrotechno, house and minimal.
