Ohm Resistance is a drum and bass label founded in Washington, DC, in 1999 by Kurt Gluck, who performs as Submerged. Mark Filip helped set up the business and fund it, taking part in the first five releases before Gluck took over alone. The first record paired Quoit and Submerged on a 12-inch cut at Mick Harris's studio, The Box, in Birmingham. In 2002 the label moved to Brooklyn to make distribution outside the United States easier.
Its music covers neurofunk and jungle, and over time it widened from drum and bass vinyl to experimental electronic work, including records not made for the dance floor. Technical Itch, Enduser and Scorn have released music on it, and the 2008 compilation Disciples of the Unreal gathered tracks from Counterstrike, Identity and Corrupt Souls. In 2010 Ohm Resistance released the self-titled album by The Blood of Heroes, a project with Justin Broadrick, Bill Laswell and Submerged.
The label has worked with visual artists, dancers and other musicians on multimedia projects, and has released music by Washington, DC artists such as Sinthetix. It also ran Tangent, a Wednesday-night event at the U-Turn club, for a year.
