Piranha Pool Recordings began in 2014, when Ed Rush established it as a drum-and-bass imprint distinct from Virus Recordings. He intended it to issue music by established artists and to give new talent a platform for releases. Its planned sound drew near to Virus Recordings while taking a more technical, aggressive and futuristic direction in drum and bass. The label issued Ed Rush’s “Scarabs” as a single in 2014, and “Boxcar” is also among its releases. Signs’ “Clockout” and “Acid Test” appeared on the label, with their combined single “Clockout / Acid Test” released in 2015. Ed Rush and Signs are among the artists whose music has been released by Piranha Pool Recordings.
