PROJECT TRENDKILL was established in 2013 by drum-and-bass producers Gridlok and Prolix as an outlet for their dark, gritty, non-commercial music. That year, the imprint issued their eight-track album Project Trendkill, featuring “Riot,” “Revenge” and “Nightcrawler.” The pair composed, recorded, mixed and mastered the album using analog equipment, and released it on four vinyl records. With labels and distributors hesitant to back the project, Gridlok and Prolix turned to Kickstarter to finance the vinyl pressing. The campaign raised $13,525, supporting a pressing of about 1,500 records. In 2014, PROJECT TRENDKILL followed the album with Gridlok’s single “Slingshot Remix.” Gridlok and Prolix are among the artists who have released music on the imprint.
