Scientific is a drum-and-bass label based in Utrecht, Netherlands, founded by producer Mischa van de Bilt, who releases music as Mav. Its debut record, Ascension .01 EP, arrived in 1999 with contributions from Deepflow, Twister and Mav. Atmospheric electronic music and drum and bass define the label’s focus. Scientific issued Mav’s single Oldschool Atmospherics EP, Part 1 and later put out his Sounds of the Deep LP, which contains remixes by Seba and Naibu. Naibu’s releases for the label also include Case Study Remix EP, released in 2017.
On the Techmosphere series, deep atmospheric drum and bass meets tech-influenced dancefloor sounds. Its 12-track compilation, Techmosphere .01 LP, extends that approach. Scientific’s related imprints are Deep Science, devoted to deep house, and Skylab, whose releases span downtempo, chillout and experimental music.
