Shiftin Beatz is a drum and bass label from Essex, formed in 2013 by DJ AK and DJ Digibit as a partnership to push underground drum and bass. Its sound centred on jump-up, with jungle, rollers and neurofunk also in the mix.
In its first year the label put out Hedex’s “Unprotected Points” and the nine-track All Starz LP, which featured Jayline’s “Gruff”, followed in November by The Bully Stick, a nine-track collection of current and former label artists. Complex’s four-track Rise of Infection EP came out in 2014 and Stompz’s “The Box” in 2017.
DJ Digibit left in 2017, when Crabby and Crakey joined DJ AK as partners. DJ AK hosted a fortnightly Shiftin Beatz show on Rough Tempo Radio, while Crabby and Crakey presented the weekly Elevated Sounds. The label was active until 2019.
