Sumo Beatz is DJ Heist's flagship drum and bass imprint, set up after he had worked with Co-Lab Recordings and Calypso Muzak. It is part of the Co-Lab label group, which Heist runs with Benny Colab, and sits alongside Liquid Lab. Its releases range from atmospheric liquid drum and bass to dark, gritty jump up, built on weighty bass, detailed drum programming and soulful melodic lines, and the label favours club tracks over experimental material.
Heist's releases on the label include Barny Rubal / 40 Hertz Skank (2009), Mother Ship / Unicron (2010), Mancubus (2016) and 80's Kids (2024). Serum has also released music on Sumo Beatz, as have Aweminus, with the Jewels EP in 2018, and Shimah, with Pressure in the Pipes in 2025. Heist's single Herrings / Warning Barrage followed in 2026. The label also hosts live events and showcases.
