Translation Recordings is an independent label from the Washington, D.C. area, started by childhood friends in spring 2004. It focuses on drum and bass and other music around 170 BPM, from atmospheric and soulful to dark and heavy, with dub and bass-driven electronic music alongside, and it works with emerging and established artists from around the world.
Its first release, Resound’s “Sounds Of The City / Greedy Faces”, came out in 2005, followed by ASC’s “Atlantic Breeze / Sunrise” in 2006 and the compilation Without Borders LP in 2010. Anile, Aziola Cry, Out of Fuel and The Untouchables have also released on the label, and Nuage’s “Double Mind” arrived in 2021. Its music has been supported by Fabio, Grooverider, Bailey, Flight and dBridge and played on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM, RTÉ Pulse and Dinamo FM, and the weekly Translation Sound show is hosted by RogueState and MsDisdain.
