GLXY is a UK drum & bass duo from London, made up of producers and DJs Thomas Alston and Jonathan Campbell. Within drum & bass their work sits firmly in the liquid/melodic and atmospheric end of the spectrum: soulful, jazz-inflected liquid DnB is their primary approach.

Alston and Campbell met while studying at the University of Leicester and began releasing music in the mid-2010s. They signed to Shogun Audio in 2017 and have released material on labels including Shogun and Hospital. In 2020 the pair released the album Research & Development. Throughout their career they have worked with vocalists and producers such as DRS, Duskee and Lenzman.

Their musical style centres on melodic, jazz-tinged arrangements and soulful vocal work rather than jump-up or heavy neuro textures. That shows in the duo’s emphasis on chord movement, melodic basslines and atmosphere: tracks commonly feature extended pad and key work, clear melodic leads and vocal passages that sit over restrained break programming. The result is liquid DnB with an explicit jazz and soul influence rather than purely percussion-forward production.

On the production side GLXY favour clean break edits and song-form arrangements that allow harmonic material to evolve across a track. Their bass design tends toward warm, rounded sub-bass that supports the chords rather than aggressive distortion; drums are mixed with space and restraint so melodies and vocals remain front and centre. As DJs they perform their own productions alongside peer releases, shaping playlists that highlight melodic, atmospheric material and soulful vocal-led tracks.

Key career facts: the duo emerged in the mid-2010s; they signed to Shogun Audio in 2017; they have released on both Shogun and Hospital; and they put out the album Research & Development in 2020. Collaborations with DRS, Duskee and Lenzman are cited on their record and release credits. They operate as both producers and DJs, taking recorded work into club and radio contexts.

GLXY are based in and around London, with ties to Seven Sisters and Fleet. Public information on their wider influences is limited in scope beyond the documented jazz and soul inflections in their output and the named collaborators above, but their releases and album make those stylistic touchpoints explicit. The 2020 Research & Development album and subsequent label releases on Shogun and Hospital remain the clearest record of their contribution to melodic liquid drum & bass.
