McLeod, whose real name is Sam McLeod, is a drum-and-bass producer and one half of the collaboration Villem & McLeod. An earlier release was the 2014 single Dutch Oven / Only 4 U on CIA Deepkut. The pair’s releases include the 2016 No More Games EP on Spearhead Records, featuring Riya and Zero T. McLeod has described working with Riya in the studio during her visits, making music together in those sessions.

McLeod was credited on the 2018 album Playing the Changes. In 2019, the single Gifted Lover paired McLeod with vocalist Leo Wood. The following year brought the EP Towards the Sun, a collaboration with Villem and Cleveland Watkiss, alongside the single Crossways. McLeod also released the 2020 EP Better Days, which includes the track Lions; that single, featuring Leo Wood, came out on Fokuz Recordings. Another 2020 single, Street Lights, featured Regina and appeared on Natty Dub Recordings. McLeod’s releases also include the EP Perfect Solution.

In 2022, McLeod and Villem released the single When Love Is Over with Leo Wood on Spearhead Records. McLeod also teamed up with Symptom for the single The Weapon, released on Emcee Recordings that year. His releases have also appeared on Quantize Recordings, Soul Trader Records, Warm Communications and Flexout Audio.

In 2024, McLeod and Villem worked with Sydney Bryce on the drum-and-bass tracks Clouds and Stay with Me, released through Flexout Audio.

Drum&BassArena was founded in 1996 by Andrew Wright and began in Sheffield as an online drum and bass portal called breakbeat.co.uk. It later expanded into music releases and other media, including live events, tours, merchandise, podcasts and video. Its releases have featured jungle, liquid funk, neurofunk and other drum and bass styles, with music by Pendulum, High Contrast and Sub Focus among its output. Technimatic’s single “Turner Road” came out on the label in 2012.

Named releases include “What You’re Missing” by BCee and Javeon, “18%” by Particle and Catching Cairo, and Jolliffe’s Offshore EP. The label also issued annual compilation albums, including Drum&BassArena 2016 and Drum&BassArena 2018; A&R and label manager Maja Cicic worked with artists on releases and curated the compilations in 2019. Its YouTube channel features premieres, interviews and live streams, while the annual Drum&BassArena Awards form part of its activity.

Other artists with releases on the label include A.M.C, Brookes Brothers, Kove and Turno. Its named releases also include Latte’s remix of Bad Company UK’s “Planet Dust.” The annual compilations span different drum-and-bass styles and include exclusive tracks.
