Ar Ais Arís with Mantra and Chord Memory

Ar Ais Arís is a Galway collective for bass music and sound-system culture, run by a small team that includes Alannah Dunford, Hannah Hession and Robin Clancy. It started with a party at Áras na nGael in late 2022, and Aoife O’Toole, known as DJ Egg, has been part of it from the start and designed its visual identity. The focus is on inclusive, small-scale nights with a strong sound system, and the crew often works with RiseUp Soundsystem.
Áras na nGael, a room of about 130 people, has been its usual home, and nights have also run at The Space and The Commercial Boatclub, where events resumed in 2024 after a short break. The collective has worked with Galway Arts Centre, Going Coastal festival and Pot Duggans in Ennistymon, and it has booked Tim Reaper, Sully and Chord Memory. It also runs a label for local artists, which opened with the compilation Ar Ais Arís Volume 1 featuring Doubt and Plus One.
