Bassrush

Bassrush is an Insomniac brand based in Los Angeles, with events featuring drum and bass and dubstep. Insomniac established it in 2002 to represent different forms of bass music, and Bassrush opened its first Arena stage at an Insomniac event that year. It also held a Sunday drum-and-bass event at Qtopia in Hollywood, with Roni Size, Adam F, DJ Craze and Reid Speed. The event occupied one of the club’s three rooms and attracted more than 1,000 people.

An early Bassrush club night, Funktion, ran on Wednesdays at the Vanguard. Los Angeles DJ and journalist Chris Muniz, known as Nightstalker, was an early resident and joined its editorial team in late 2014. Bassrush has held events at The Queen Mary in Los Angeles and Soundcheck in Washington DC, with line-ups including Pendulum and Camo & Krooked. In September 2023, Bassrush presented Caspa in a 360-degree configuration at Exchange LA, the venue’s first dubstep show in that format.
