Beach Cafe Society is the work of Alexey Ilyusha, who is from Ukraine, and Jamila Nolan, from Trinidad; both grew up in Brighton Beach and Coney Island. Based in New York City, the promoter opened Bar Society, a rooftop bar on the Coney Island boardwalk, and held events there. The venue serves cocktails alongside music, and plans for its rooftop included sunrise yoga sessions. In 2024, the programme featured a Soca-and-house series and a party with Afro-house and Caribbean music.
Beach Cafe Society also ran the beach-and-breakfast party 4 AM Soca Choka in 2023 and 2024, which also took in drum & bass, jungle and dancehall. Bar Society is located at 3015 Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn. Beach Cafe Society LLC holds the venue’s licence and trades as Bar Society.
