Bladerunnaz

Bladerunnaz is a Hungarian DJ and promoter collective based in Budapest. Formed in 1999, it grew out of gatherings that began the previous year; its founders were Athoz, Bal, Laz and Safair. The first event there to feature international guests took place at The Club in February 1999, with DJ Fresh and Vegas on the bill.

The collective’s events cover drum and bass and jungle, alongside hip hop, dubstep, UK garage and other bass music. It has held events at Budapest sites such as A38 and Óbuda Bay, and at Hungarian festivals including Sziget, VOLT and Balaton Sound. Bladerunnaz launched the Fields of Joy festival at Garancsi-tó in 2000; the following year it ran across two days and three stages.

Its club-night series have included Friday, for liquid and soulful drum and bass, and Drum Club, centred mainly on neurofunk. TEST was previously known as Decknology and Budapest Bass Music; Pesti Műszak is a hip hop series. Budapest Therapy Sessions began in 2007, with a focus on harder, darker drum and bass. The collective’s line-ups have included DJ Marky, Bad Company UK and Total Science, while Chase & Status have also played its events. Bladerunnaz marked its 25th anniversary with a History event at Akvárium Klub on 23 February 2024.
