Chinese Laundry

Chinese Laundry is a Sydney-based promoter staging events at its club, located at 111 Sussex Street in the basement of the Slip Inn, a century-old sandstone building. The club traces its origins to 1996. In May 2005, Canberra-based Friction promoter Paul Azzopardi assumed promotion and began a Saturday night called Laundry, spread across three rooms. The club has used three rooms and an outdoor courtyard, with music ranging from house and techno to jungle and drum and bass.

The venue shut in 2020 and reopened on June 28, 2024, with Martin Audio sound systems and updated DJ booths. Chinese Laundry Invites presents community-run events, local crew takeovers and record-label showcases, pairing international artists and labels with local DJs. Past guests have included DJ Stingray 313 and Helena Hauff. Before the closure, bookings included Jeff Mills and Sasha. In 2026, Sydney DJ PARTIGIRL curated a full-venue takeover for Chinese Laundry.
