Circolo Magnolia

Circolo Magnolia is an ARCI-affiliated nonprofit association and live-music venue in Parco Idroscalo, near Milan. People from different professions found the Idroscalo location with assistance from Milan’s ARCI committee and began holding events there in July 2005; the association was formally set up that October. Nicholas Tozzo took on artistic direction in 2012 and became president in 2015; Riccardo Negri was also a founder. Concerts and DJ sets by Italian and international performers form part of its year-round programme, alongside recreational, cultural and community activities. Its music spans styles such as techno, house, reggae and ska.

Past event line-ups have featured Black Sun Empire, Hamdi (UK), Fabio FC and Kasra. In 2006, Magnolia worked with Rockit to stage the inaugural MI AMI independent-music festival. Its cultural projects have included the film series Lo Strano Caso del Cinema al Magnolia, All You Can Street Festival and Magnolia Run. A building and energy-efficiency initiative launched in 2013 with the University of Milano-Bicocca, Brera Academy and Politecnico di Milano.
