Critical Bristol is the Bristol event brand of the London drum and bass label Critical Music. It began on 15 February 2013 as the label’s West Country residency, with its first event at The Exchange in Bristol. The launch bill included Ed Rush, Kasra, Nu:Tone and Xtrah. The promoter has staged events at Lakota and The Clock Factory, both in Bristol, as well as Motion Bristol.
At a later Critical Sound event at Motion Bristol, the line-up included Mefjus, Ivy Lab and Emperor alongside Kasra. In June 2022, Critical Sound brought a 20th-anniversary show to Bristol as part of a series of celebrations. The event took place at Motion, formed part of the Sequences summer programme and used the venue’s outdoor spaces.
