Dark Red Records

Dark Red Records is a Manchester independent label and event promoter, founded in 2021 by DJ and producer Ego-Free Sequences, also known as Joe Wood. A crowdfunding campaign came before the label’s start, with the project giving its founder control over producing, pressing and releasing music. Its focus is jungle, drum and bass and 170 music, while events have also drawn on dub, deep dubstep, halftime and experimental sounds.

Manchester events have taken place at Eastern Bloc Records, Soup and Stage and Radio. Recurring performers have included Ego-Free Sequences, Darsk and Mr Klemit. Klute, JoBird and Boa played at the party marking the label’s third birthday at Soup. The first two releases were A Million Drums (DRR001) and Cluster of Allies (DRR002). In March 2023, Rough & Tumble (DRR003) was launched at an Eastern Bloc party on St Patrick's Day.
