Destiny Productions is an independent electronic dance music promoter based in Toronto. Ryan Kruger established Destiny in 1993 with assistance from other local promoters. Its first events featured local DJs, advertised through flyers handed out in person and a mailed list. DJ D-Monic became a resident in 1997 after playing at The Docks, and performed at major Destiny events and its Friday parties.
Destiny has held events at Toronto venues including NØMAD, The Concert Hall, Coda and 131 Mccormack St. Its bookings have included drum and bass artists Andy C, Marcus Visionary, Delta Heavy and Pachelle. Destiny Fridays and Ascension were recurring events, and DJ Hype was among its bookings. Destiny also promoted anniversary events at Kool Haus in 2013 and Sound Academy in 2015.
Destiny organized the first World Electronic Music Festival in 1995 as part of its second-anniversary event. WEMF became a multi-day camping festival held at different sites in Ontario, with Destiny working alongside UK promoter Outer Limits on talent bookings. At the 1995 festival at Mosport International Raceway, a tornado damaged three circus tents and the event’s sound and lighting equipment. By 2014, Destiny had produced more than 600 events, including WEMF festivals.
In 2011, Kruger joined Live Nation to help create its Electronic Nation division and the Digital Dreams festival.
