Divercity Bass

Divercity Bass is a Zurich, Switzerland-based event promoter, founded in 2010 by Rollin John as a drum-and-bass event label. Its programme covers drum and bass, jungle, roots and digital dub, and dubstep. John began DJing in 2004 and plays across drum-and-bass subgenres. The promoter has held events at Salzhaus, Frieda's Büxe, Gessnerallee and Supermarket, all in Zurich.

Its monthly Soul Of Divercity nights at Musikklub Mehrspur provided an early platform for local drum-and-bass fans and the Swiss scene. In 2012, Divercity launched Jungle Bass at Exil, with David Boomah and Aries; the series carried on in later years. Other formats have included Hospitality and RAM Night events, dub parties, and Divercity Live!, which brought electronica acts such as XXYYXX and Daedelus to Zurich. Heavy Rotation, an annual party, has been held at Gessnerallee.

Divercity held its first large-scale rave at Komplex 457 in March 2013, with a Hospitality bill featuring High Contrast and Camo & Krooked. Its 2017 Bass Fest used two floors: one for drum and bass, equipped with a Funktion One system, and another for dub, jungle and bass, with a Subsanity soundsystem. The festival’s bill included Metrik and Hybrid Minds, alongside MCs Wrec and Tempza and local acts including Rollin John. Heavy Rotation later marked its tenth anniversary with a Street Parade event in Zurich, featuring Phibes and Task Horizon.
