Dubtendo

Dubtendo is a London event promoter combining rave music with retro gaming and UK underground sounds. Founded by Jake Carless in 2012, it grew from free and house parties where retro games accompanied the music. The project then took to Boomtown as a walkabout act, using a portable DJ system and mobile speakers for processions and pop-up raves influenced by computer-game music and 8-bit sounds.

Its music has covered drum and bass, UK garage, breaks and jungle. Dubtendo has staged events at The Fox and Firkin in London, The Prospect Building and Thekla in Bristol, and Cardiff Students' Union - The Great Hall. A London event at The Fox and Firkin combined two music areas with a games lounge and a Mario Kart competition. Performers included High Contrast and Bou.

At Boomtown, the act developed from its mobile walkabout setup into a stage, with DJs performing behind a large game-controller prop and retro consoles available to attendees. The stage drew more than a thousand people in 2019, when High Contrast played a disco set there. In 2022, Dubtendo ran a hidden micro-stage and a street party at the festival, while also appearing at club events around the west of England. A gaming-inspired stage concept for UK festivals and events followed in 2024, with pop-ups and DJ sets; Dubtendo Allstars went international in 2025.
