Elsewhere is a nightclub, music venue and arts space in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City. It began operating in 2017 in a former warehouse, with five areas: The Hall, Zone One, The Loft, the Rooftop and Chatroom. The Hall accommodates touring performers, DJ nights and art events; Zone One’s programme gives space to emerging artists. A courtyard and lounge bar are also part of the venue. The building spans 24,000 square feet, including a performance hall measuring 5,000 square feet.
Jake Rosenthal and Rami Haykal started promoting parties as Popgun in 2008 and later operated Glasslands Gallery in Williamsburg. Dhruv Chopra became their partner as they worked on Elsewhere. Glasslands shut in 2014, and Elsewhere became their next Brooklyn venue. Its programme combines live performances with electronic club nights, spanning house, techno and experimental music. The venue has presented sets by Carl Craig, Floating Points and Helena Hauff.
Papi Juice, a collective celebrating queer and trans people of color, has held recurring events at Elsewhere, which also stages annual Paradise Garage reunion celebrations. Battles performed at the venue’s opening party in October 2017. New York City’s Cabaret Law repeal was signed on The Hall stage. During its COVID-19 closure in 2020, Elsewhere presented a virtual festival inside Minecraft. In July 2024, following Popgun’s 15th-anniversary event, Elsewhere and Popgun Presents merged as Elsewhere Presents.
