Elysia

Elysia is a Basel club and promoter that runs its own electronic music nights, including techno and trance, at Frankfurt-Strasse 36. The club opened in summer 2016 in the former Basel-City-Studios building on the Dreispitz site, developed by a group led by operator Guy Blattmann, who managed it in its first year.

The 200-square-metre main room has a large speaker wall with the DJ booth placed midway along it, and a custom Lambda Labs system with 12 subwoofers and more than 100,000 watts. The booking aims at electronic music outside the mainstream, mixing local and international artists.

Mafou, Kombé and Mukuna were residents from the opening and started Somatic Rituals there as a club night, later a label, bringing artists such as Joy Orbison, Batu and Roi Perez to Basel from 2017. Amenthia moved its nights to Elysia from Hinterhof. In September 2024 the club held a Local Heroes night for local artists, and its line-ups have included Buunshin, S.P.Y and Was A Be.
