essaim is a Paris club in the city’s 10th arrondissement. It opened on 31 October 2024 in the basement of La Caserne, at 14 Rue Philippe de Girard, between Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est, in premises that previously housed Club Carbone and Bisou Club.
It was founded by Brice Coudert, Jonathan Malaisé, David Bossan and Tommy Gin. Coudert was artistic director of Concrete and Malaisé oversaw technical and production work there, and essaim marked Coudert’s return to running a club programme after Concrete and Dehors Brut. He selects the programme with Antoine Hernandez, who has also co-programmed the Positive Education festival.
The schedule spans electronic music, with techno-focused Fridays and Saturdays oriented towards break-based sounds, plus extended DJ sets and after-hours formats. Special Request, Anetha and 33EMYBW are among the artists who have played. Recurring parties include “tribalism” and “cocoon”, and in 2025 essaim added an after-hours night called “after climax”. The room holds 400 people and uses an L-Acoustics system expanded from the Club Carbone setup, and architect Dorothée Hachiken designed the dancefloor with the DJ booth at floor level, close to the crowd.
