fabric is a nightclub and event promoter based in London, United Kingdom. Founded by Keith Reilly and Cameron Leslie, it opened in October 1999 on Charterhouse Street, Farringdon, in a former Victorian meat warehouse at Smithfield. Craig Richards and Terry Francis were the club’s founding resident DJs and have held residencies there since its opening. The club’s first public event was a drum and bass party.

The venue has three rooms, each with its own sound system; Room One dance floor contains sections that transmit bass vibrations. Its Friday-night fabriclive series began in 2001, initially featuring breaks and drum and bass before expanding to garage, dubstep, grime and other bass-led styles. Saturday programming has included house, techno and disco, with Richards and Francis as residents. Line-ups at fabric events have featured Bryan Gee, Promo ZO, DJ Flight and Enei. Wetyourself has promoted Sunday events at fabric since February 2009, featuring underground house and techno.

fabric’s recorded-music projects include a mix-CD series launched in 2001 and the Houndstooth label, established in 2013. The wider label family also includes fabric Records and Originals. The promoter has run events at its Farringdon venue and at The View From The Shard, both in London. It closed in 2016 after its licence was revoked, then reopened in 2017 under stricter conditions. Its sister venue matter operated at The O2 from 2008 until closing in 2010.
