FABRICLIVE is a London event promoter whose Friday series began at fabric in 2001, with early programming focused on drum and bass and other bass-heavy music. Steve Blonde oversaw its first version, and Shaun Roberts became fabric’s promotions manager in 2006. The programme later widened to include grime, bassline, breaks, dark garage and dubstep, and events have also taken place at Planet Wax. Line-ups have included Bryan Gee and Calyx.
The FABRICLIVE mix series ran from 2001 to 2018, giving invited DJs room to reflect their own musical styles. Its final release was the 100th instalment, mixed by Kode9 and Burial; other mixes included one by Calibre. The series became a platform for UK bass music culture, while FABRICLIVE Fridays remained part of fabric’s regular programming.
FABRICLIVE’s 2024 programme included nights with Hyperdub, HVYWGHT and Zed Bias’s Neighbourhood. A record label launched under fabric Records with Sully’s “Model Collapse” as its first artist release.
