Faith In Strangers is an independent cultural venue, restaurant, bar and workspace in Cliftonville, Margate, founded by school friends Richard Randels and Jeremy Duffy. It occupies the former Frank’s nightclub, a sea-view second-floor space at 17 Ethelbert Crescent, which was restored and relaunched in 2019 before the venue opened in 2021.
The room holds 300 standing and has run the custom-built Poseidon Sound System since 2022. Its programme takes in DJ sets, live music, listening sessions, film, comedy and talks, and it has hosted more than 500 events.
Norman Jay, Goldie, Leftfield, Joy Orbison and Mr Scruff are among those who have played, and its drum and bass nights have brought DJ Hazard, SHY FX and LTJ Bukem, along with Goldie’s Metalheadz Blue Note Sessions. The Movement night, curated by Matt Walsh, launched with Erol Alkan in December 2023, and the promoter has also run events at Drill Shed.
