Fuse Brussels is a club and promoter in the Marolles district of Brussels. Peter Decuypere and Thierry Coppens opened it on April 16, 1994, in a former cinema at Blaes 208, with techno at the centre after Decuypere was inspired by Detroit techno. The old screening rooms became a main room downstairs and smaller rooms above, the club holds about 1,500 people, and its early programme brought international techno to Belgium every week.
Alongside techno, Fuse has programmed house and, for a period, drum and bass in its upstairs room. Its history includes the I Love Techno and Motion Room nights, and Smos and Baby Bee were residents from 2001 to 2004, helping shape the Motion Room’s house sound. DJ Pierre has been a resident since the start and has also worked as a booker. Bredren, AliA, Calibre and DjRUM have played its drum and bass events.
Fuse launched the minimal techno night Lessizmore, started a record label and took its name outside the club with Fuse on the Beach and festival stages. Thierry Coppens’s party La Demence has been held there since 1994. The club closed temporarily in January 2023 after noise and closing-time restrictions and reopened after a successful appeal, and it marked 30 years in 2024.
