Grelle Forelle is a club and event promoter operating in Vienna, Austria. It opened in the city’s 9th district in December 2011, at Spittelauer Lände 12 beside the Danube Canal. The venue has two floors: the larger Clubfloor and the smaller Kitchenfloor. Its programme spans techno, house, electro and hip-hop, alongside live shows and alternative concerts.
The opening featured Damian Lazarus; early bookings included Anton Zap, Matthias Tanzmann, Andy Catana and Laminat. Johannes Piller, also known as Laminat, took on booking duties in summer 2014, sharing them with Stephan Maurer. The club’s recurring formats include Fish Market, Impulse and Contrast, with residents DLV and Aida Arko. Its event line-ups have included S.P.Y, Buunshin, Misanthrop and Phace. In 2015, plans included dividing the club into two parts, retaining the main floor and adding a restaurant and bar. The main-floor system uses Lambda Labs subwoofers and Alcons Audio line arrays, while bass equipment is built into its walls. A first-year anniversary event took place in 2012. In August 2015, a redevelopment plan included transferring management to Johannes Piller-Giroud and Peter Balon.
