Hisaki

Based in Tokyo, Hisaki works as a jungle DJ, producer and event promoter. He began DJing in 2014. In 2018, he and kens:k launched Hideout, a party bringing together UK hardcore and drum & bass. In 2021, Hisaki began producing under the name Midnight Runner and established Persona non Grata, a label exploring breakbeats and reinterpretations of UK underground sounds. He also founded a Tokyo collective focused on underground dance music and outdoor gatherings.

Collaborators including Hisaki, maidable and Follow The Shadows came together around 2021, then staged the collective’s first outdoor party in 2022. UK artists Sully and Dwarde appeared at the event, which Hisaki initiated to bring them to Japan and extend his work beyond clubs. The collective later developed club TAKEOVER events and a label. Hisaki has held events at Live Haus, Saloon and Shinjuku Duusraa, all in Tokyo. At a September 2024 TAKEOVER at Saloon, he presented drum & bass and garage.
