Hootananny

Hootananny is a London event promoter operating at Hootananny Brixton and Hootananny in London. Hootananny Brixton opened in September 2007, founded by brother-and-sister business partners Kit Fraser and Sophia Yates. The family already ran a Hootananny venue in Inverness, and the Brixton site was first conceived as a way to bring Scottish Highland music to south London. Sophia Yates and her brother owned the venue, while their niece Angie worked as its promoter and manager.

The programme covers jungle, reggae, disco and house, with line-ups including Funsta, Jumping Jack Frost, OS:MAN and DJ Brockie. Movimientos ran a monthly night focused on Latin, tropical and global music at Hootananny, and had a residency there by 2013. In October 2023, Hootananny Brixton Venue CIC was incorporated as a member-owned not-for-profit social enterprise; the pub and hostel remained under a limited company.
