Howler Melbourne

Howler Melbourne is an event promoter operating at Howler, a venue in Brunswick, Melbourne. The venue opened in 2013 in a converted warehouse, developed by owner and co-designer Brendan Brogan with theatre artist and curator Nick Casey. Nick Casey took charge of theatre, comedy and DJ bookings, while Vanessa Bassili handled bands. Howler has a garden, two performance spaces, a main bar and a gallery bar; its theatre was planned to hold 400 people standing.

Its programme spans live music, DJs, theatre, fringe and comedy, with bookings across indie, electronic and art-house music, as well as house and deep house. Event line-ups have featured Dave Juric, Nubreed, Benny Page and Doktor. In 2025, Howler Melbourne promoted Brunswick City Radio events, bringing local and international artists together and recording sets for later listening.

Located at 14 Dawson Street, the venue’s performance space uses custom-designed sound and lighting for local and international acts. Bands that have played there include Hiatus Kaiyote and Holy Holy.
