Insomniac

Insomniac is an electronic-music event promoter based in Los Angeles, United States. Pasquale Rotella founded it in 1993, after hosting underground warehouse parties around the city. Its early Friday parties moved between Los Angeles locations each week and drew about 300 people. Nocturnal Wonderland began in Los Angeles in 1995, and Electric Daisy Carnival made its debut at the Shrine Expo Hall in 1997.

The promoter has used venues including The Queen Mary, Academy LA, The Echoplex and 1756 Naud St., all in Los Angeles. Its partnership with Exchange LA started in 2011, with past weekly club series including Bassrush Thursdays, Awakening Fridays and Inception Saturdays. In January 2018, Insomniac reopened the former Vanguard and Create Nightclub space as Academy LA; its patio hosted the first Day Trip parties, Sunday summer events focused on house music.

Insomniac launched Bassrush in 2002 as a bass-music brand, while Factory 93 began with a downtown Los Angeles event in April 2016 and centres on techno and deep house. Artists booked by the promoter include Chase & Status, Flowdan, G Jones and Mary Droppinz. Factory 93 and Day Trip presented Skyline LA in 2022, 2023 and 2024; the festival first took place in Orlando in 2021, before establishing its home at Ace*Mission in downtown Los Angeles.
