Kaschemme

Kaschemme is a concert venue, nightclub and bar in Basel, Switzerland. Eres Oron, Daniel Henke and Marco Schmutz opened it in the city’s Breite district in 2014, after renting an empty warehouse the previous year. The building had no toilets or sewer connection; the conversion included six months of construction. The venue is at Lehenmattstrasse 357 and also has studios and workshops for artists and cultural workers.

Its programme spans electronic music, house, techno, rock, hip-hop and Afrobeat, alongside concerts and club nights. Recurring Weill Sonntag events cover downtempo, dubby techno and house. Kaschemme installed the former Nordstern sound system and runs the Uptown DJ-Lab, where DJs can practise and exchange skills. In 2020 it founded Verein Uptown to support music, art, culture and society at the venue, and launched NICA, an electronic-music label. It has hosted NICA open-air events, with editions in 2024 and 2025.
