La Cheetah Club is a 200-capacity basement club at 73 Queen Street in Glasgow’s Merchant City. It opened in 2009 in the former Twisted Wheel, when owner Dario Bernardi refurbished the space with a DJ booth and sound system and brought in Grahame Ward to run bookings and programming; Ward is also its resident DJ. The system uses Funktion-One speakers and subwoofers, Technics turntables and Pioneer CDJs.
The programme covers house, techno and experimental electronic music, with drum and bass and jungle nights as well. Named nights have included the dark techno night Code, Kunst, Offbeat and Pistols at Dawn, which focused on Balearic, disco and leftfield sounds, and the club keeps an archive of mixes recorded in the basement.
In 2019 La Cheetah marked its tenth anniversary with residency series from Objekt, Shanti Celeste, Avalon Emerson and Palms Trax, opened the sister venue Room 2 in March at the former Chambre 69 site and curated its first festival stage at Riverside Festival. Its drum and bass bookings include a 2026 night with Tim Reaper and resident Fourth Precinct.
