Maganda Shakul

Maganda Shakul is an event promoter based in Uganda. His events have taken place at The Wild Ones Club, Wild Club in Athens and The Mist in Nairobi. Shakul created Groove and Green, a Ugandan series using music and fashion to raise awareness of climate change; its programme also brings together fashion, indigenous rhythms and climate themes. He founded the Nilotika Cultural Ensemble, which performs on traditional Ugandan instruments and offers music education to children and vulnerable community members. He also hosts Nalubaale, a radio programme showcasing minority tribes and artists from Uganda.

Shakul joined Kampala’s Nilotika Cultural Hub in 2020 as a fashion designer, later developing music there with local musicians. In 2024, he pioneered Bakisimbatronics, a Ugandan style pairing electronic music with Bakisimba rhythms from Buganda. His debut EP, Tutabaale, came out in 2022, blending traditional Ugandan music and contemporary sounds.
