Mais Baixo

Mais Baixo began in Lisbon in 2011 as a digital outlet for Portuguese DJs and producers to circulate their work. The collective centres soundsystem culture and bass music, with a range that includes dub, drum and bass, UK garage and dubstep. It has staged events as Mais Baixo Soundsystem and built a soundsystem for bass music. Its activities have included event production, a netlabel, radio, magazine writing, DJ promotion, and web and app development. Event line-ups have featured 404 Not Found, Freud and Xtanki.

The collective held a monthly residency at Groove Bar in Bairro Alto and has presented events at Miradouro de Baixo, Spacy Club Caldas, LX Faktory and Clube Ferroviário. It became an official partner of Outlook Festival in 2013. Mais Baixo released two Portuguese Deep Frequencies compilations featuring 30 Portuguese producers. After promoting Portuguese dubstep DJs on London online radio stations Rood.FM and SUB.fm, it began the weekly Pressão Sonora programme on Lisbon station Rádio Oxigénio in 2018.
