Nowadays

Nowadays is a venue and event promoter in Ridgewood, Queens, New York City. DJs Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter started their Mister Saturday Night parties around the city in 2009, before developing the daytime Mister Sunday gatherings. They opened Nowadays outdoors in 2015 as a base for both parties. The venue presents dance music spanning techno, house, jungle and drum and bass, with Mister Sunday among its regular events.

An indoor warehouse room opened beside the outdoor space in 2017, with Gareth Solan joining Harkin and Carter in the project. Its 5,000-square-foot interior and the outdoor dance floor have custom analogue sound systems made by Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu of SBS Slammer. Nowadays is located at 56-06 Cooper Avenue. Its event line-ups have featured dBridge, DRS, Goldie, LSB and Alírio.

Alongside Mister Sunday, Nowadays presents Planetarium, a deep-listening gathering, and Nonstop, a marathon party series. Nonstop began in 2018 and shifted to a weekly schedule in 2024. The booking team gives space to local artists, including residents Ayesha, Aurora Halal, Physical Therapy and livwutang. DJ Voices, also known as Kristin Malossi, is a resident and part of the booking team. The Working Women DJ collective, with which DJ Voices played at Nowadays, held a residency there until the group ended in 2020.
