Nu:Motive began in Hereford in 2016, founded by George Thoburn, and later moved its base to Bristol. The promotions company focuses on underground music, from drum and bass and jungle to grime, garage, bassline and dubstep, and has staged more than 200 shows, mostly in Bristol but also in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.
In Bristol, its events have taken place at Thekla, Motion, Lakota, Lost Horizon and Loco Klub, among others. Nu:Motive has worked with the Bristol promoters Dazed and Alternate and partnered with Makino and Stellar Audio; a show with Dazed at Thekla featured KOAN Sound, and its own line-ups have included Azumei, DASHY and Disrupta.
