Proton The Club

Proton The Club is located at Königstraße 49 in Stuttgart, Germany. A 2016 event marked the club’s 17th anniversary. Lars Kanzian operated the venue in 2021, with Benny Reichert overseeing its programme. Bookings have included ESKEI83, and events have been run both by Proton and by outside promoters. Its programming has covered electronic styles including techno, hard techno, psytrance and trance, as well as hip-hop and afrobeat. Friday events have included trance and techno, while Saturday programming has featured hip-hop and afrobeat. In 2021, the club said it would focus solely on electronic music, following earlier periods that included hip-hop.

Proton’s hard-dance series Madness has featured artists including Rooler, Da Tweekaz, Warface and Vertile. The in-house Electronic Playground party has also taken place there, while Musical Madness has promoted hardstyle shows and Senses/Awake has brought trance events to the venue. Resident DJ Philip Bogdan held his Electronic Mind series at Proton before developing Clap with Georgee and Boe; Clap bookings have focused on house and tech house. Bogdan’s team managed Aftersix, held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month with hard-hitting music.

During pandemic-era refurbishment, new lighting and sound equipment was installed on the main floor. Proton has a surround sound system, six lasers and a Full HD LED wall measuring 10 square metres, while its lighting setup is changed regularly.
