PullUp Recordings

PullUp Recordings began as a Cardiff club night marking Sam Southan’s 19th birthday at Undertone, and Sam Southan and John Lewis founded the promoter. Following Undertone’s closure, the night shifted to Loco’s, where its capacity doubled. Its early audience included around 100 friends, with the music’s genres taking priority over headliner names. The Cardiff-based promoter now runs events in the UK and internationally, and its parties span settings from shops and tattoo studios to venues holding 1,000 people. Its approach centres on party music rather than a single genre.

Events have taken place at The Vaults and Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff, The Boxing Club in Bristol and Unit 58 in London, and PullUp Recordings is associated with GemFest. Its work covers festivals, media support and drum-and-bass releases, including a label debut in 2020. PullUp provides opportunities and a platform for Welsh DJs and producers. Bennie, its first resident DJ, and SMG each had an EP reach the top of the Juno charts; the promoter has also worked with BSEARL and Arkala Dre.
