Based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Quite Lucky started in autumn 2022 as a drum-and-bass event series. Its founders first organized parties as a step toward a label they had wanted to create. During a team brainstorming session, Bianca suggested the name; Călin, who performs as Memphys, was a core member. Events have taken place at Form Space in Cluj-Napoca and Club Guesthouse in Bucharest.
Early bookings brought international performers such as Etherwood, Riya, Alix Perez and Metrik alongside Romanian artists. A night called Quite Lucky 007 at Form Space introduced a series for Cluj-Napoca’s drum-and-bass community and used a stage arranged for a 360-degree view. The promoter’s musical focus is soulful, forward-looking drum and bass, with its wider palette extending into deep, raw and experimental sounds. Its activities have included festival takeovers, documentaries and creative camps in Transylvanian villages.
Through ECHOES, emerging Romanian musicians have taken part in writing camps with established Hospital Records artists. The project’s first camp was held in Viscri in October 2024. Quite Lucky launched its record label, Quite Lucky Records, in 2026, drawing on Romanian music and a range that includes soulful, deep, raw, delicate and unruly styles. Its first single, “Feeling Quite Lucky”, features vocalist Blocksberg working with producer Azotix.
