Requiem Events

Requiem Events is a Sacramento, California, event producer that started in 2013. Its first gatherings were held in a small apartment, where friends met to listen to music and dance, before the parties moved to larger venues. The company had 20 resident DJs by 2014 and had produced 40 parties over two years by August 2015. Its events paired Sacramento DJs with visiting performers and incorporated visual art, including commissioned work and stage installations by local artist Jose DiGregorio.

Midtown Barfly has hosted the Throwdown dance-party series and That Thing on Friday, which Requiem ran with Fathom Sound. In 2014, Throwdown was monthly and That Thing on Friday took place weekly; Fathom Sound handled bookings and provided sub-bass equipment. Throwdown later settled on the third Saturday of each month and That Thing on Friday on the first and third Fridays. Its events have also taken place at The Flamingo House.

Requiem’s bookings have spanned house, big-room, drum and bass, and jungle, with performers including Sam Binga and Plastician. In 2015, the company held official TBD Fest after-parties at Midtown Barfly across three rooms, with performers such as K.Flay and Autograf. In 2022, Requiem and Darling Aviary presented the Nightingale block party at Ali Youssefi Square, using multiple spaces for dance music. Requiem partnered with Headroom for a Sacramento show featuring Sam Binga in 2024.
