Singularity UK

Singularity UK is a London-based collective that began hosting parties in 2019, with its first gathering at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. Its music draws on old-school UK dance music, jungle, drum and bass, and bassline. The collective has staged more than 90 themed nights across six years, and its fifth-anniversary event was at SET Woolwich. Its early music policy was limited to UK tracks.

Events have taken place at Corsica Studios, Phonox and M.O.T in London, as well as Kable Club in Manchester. Singularity UK’s first Corsica Studios event divided the music between bassline and 4x4 in one room, and 160, jungle and hardcore in another. At Duplate Dealers, DJs play test pressings and unreleased tracks on white-label vinyl. Lessons from Above features line-ups composed entirely of artists born in northern England or the Midlands.

Artists featured at its events include Janaway, Silva Snipa and The Bass Injector. In 2021, Singularity UK released Janaway’s track “Junglism” through its Demolition Squad label; after lockdown ended, he played at a London event, marking his first performance outside Bristol. The collective also promoted a London event with Semtex Sound System, presenting bass and jungle through a 12-bin WSX sound system. Its releases and events have taken place across the UK and Europe. Singularity UK launched Ground Rules, a camping festival, and its related projects include Da Demolition Squad, Racket Recordings and Albion Audio.
