Sub Club · Glasgow, United Kingdom
18:00 – 22:00

Sub Club sits beneath 22 Jamaica Street in Glasgow. Graham Wilson promoted soul, jazz and funk nights around the city before he and publican Greg McLeod bought the basement venue in late 1986, and Sub Club opened on 1 April 1987. The basement covers 3,500 square feet and has a legal capacity of 410, with a Martin Audio sound system designed for the room.
Underground dance music is at the centre of its programme, alongside weekend performances by Glasgow musicians and visiting artists. Past performers include Goldie, Special Request, Chicha and Doc Scott. Sub Club runs the Sub Club Southside Weekender and Sub Club SoundSystem festivals, and its mix albums include Subculture by Harri and Subversion by Domenic.
Long-running nights have included JOY, a Friday night with Slam members Stuart and Orde, and Atlantis on Saturdays. Subculture, launched in 1994, had Harri and Domenic among its residents, and Optimo (Espacio), with residents Twitch and Wilkes, ran on Sundays until 2010. A fire in a neighbouring building shut the venue from November 1999 until its reopening party on 22 November 2002.
